Composition:

biennial plant of the Umbelliferae family, stemmed from 30 to 70 inches in height and root fusiform, orange, with leaves pinnate. The flowers are white umbels forming. Location: is given in the wild in the fields (white root with dark flowers).

In its variety grown in vegetable gardens is orange root with different shapes (long and narrow, cylindrical, round). Collection: Flowers from June to September. It root collected between June and October, and the seed between September and October. However can be planted and harvested throughout the year.

Properties:

Since ancient times has been used as a medicinal plant and as a supplement for cattle, where some farmers used it mixed with other foods when their cows were coughing.

carrot root is edible. Highly prized today for its high content of vitamins A, B1, B2 and C. Has a large amount of carotene (provitamin A), sugars (glucose and sucrose), pectin (gives an antidiarrheal property), malic acid and pigments.

can be eaten raw after washing, grated, juice, in salads. The carrot is good for the eyes, deworming, very well regulating the function of absorption and elimination (diuretic).

in children has been used as anti-strep juice, and cough. seeds are used in infusion to combat cases of dropsy, digestive and urinary retention. It also helps the healing of wounds and burns. Image
